I loved this cover when I got it--I raved about it to everyone when I talked about my Kindle--mainly that it gave the Kindle what I felt was missing--a feel of a real book. I was SO UPSET when after about 2 weeks, it began to crack the front of my Kindle. As soon as I took the cover off, I could see the Kindle plastic go back to normal (still cracked, but it did not feel like the plastic was protruding). I was relieved to see that others were having this same problem--I thought I had done something wrong. I hope they have a recall. It is so distressing to have your Kindle damaged by the thing you bought to protect it!!

Although I love the color and style of this cover, it is going in the trash! It not only cracked the facing of my kindle but caused enough damage that a chunk of the casing came out. Thank goodness for the warranty. I am ordering my new cover that does not secure to my kindle with hinges today. Please be warned that these covers are not intended to be opened from the back (and sorry but this will happen accidentally on occasion)! Just a thought...maybe they should improve the design by securing the back of the kindle to the back cover so the facing doesn't get cracked. It's not just an issue with this cover either...same thing happened to my husband's with the official kindle cover.

I used and liked this cover for several months. It is fairly lightweight and very cute. However, a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a hairline crack in the Kindle, very close to the cover's lower hinge. Within a few days, that crack had become several cracks and an actual hole. Luckily, the Kindle still works fine, but it's distressing to see that hole in the plastic casing, so close to the screen!
I would not recommend this cover at all. It's interesting to see that this has happened to several other reviewers, so I'm assuming now that it's not something I did!

The hinge detail was almost impossible to attach; removal was terrible. In fact, the hinge detail bent and now the cover is unusable. I then ordered the Kindle $9.99 cover and it did not fit my Kindle 1st generation product. At this point I'm at a loss. I still have nothing that secures my kindle product?

It may take a little while, and you may think it won't happen to your Kindle, but it does. Your Kindle will get small cracks that, no matter what you do, will continue until the whole left side is cracked. Otherwise, this case is pretty, but it's not worth it.
