Slim & trim, hinge holds securely February 28, 2009 Kathy Franklin (California, US) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am impressed by the new hinge design in this Kindle 2 cover. It holds very securely, even if you open the cover and shake it.
It appears well made, with no visible flaws. It doesn't add much bulk to the Kindle. I like to read with the front cover folded back, and this model does fold back nicely.
It doesn't have a closure of any kind but for me that's not an issue. I tuck it into my purse and it hasn't come open.
Great, Understated Kindle Cover! March 1, 2009 R. Colley (Kentucky) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I like that the Kindle cover is understated and doesn't have a lot of frills and designs. While I'm reading on my Kindle it just disappears and it doesn't cause distractions. It's a great little product for the price. I highly recommend it.
This cover rocks! March 2, 2009 Thomas Bess (FLORIDA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I pre-ordered an Oberon but canceled it in favor of this. The Oberon, while a thing of beauty, is $75. Sure, you can buy an M-edge, but why? The attachment system is perfect. The feel is very nice--I sometimes secretly pet the inner felt-like substance. And whisper, ever so softly...my precious, my precious. Shhh, don't tell anybody. The cover folds back on itself for a very comfortable reading experience. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Get the Leather Cover and not the Belkin Neoprene Sleeve August 12, 2009 David McCune (Tacoma, WA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased the Belkin Neoprene Sleeve Case with my Kindle 2. Later, a co-worker showed me her leather cover. Having seen the two side by side, I think it is well worth the $5 more to get the leather cover. Here are my main reasons:
1) Ease of use
Belkin Neoprene - you must unzip to take out the Kindle and the slide it back in when finished. I know this sounds like a little thing, but do you really want to unzip a cover every time you want to get in a quick read? I ended up not using mine except during travel. The fundamental rule of covers is that they are only useful if you use them. The sleeve will tempt you not to.
Leather Cover - Just open it up and the Kindle is right there, ready to use. It functions more like the hard cover of a book. When not in use, it easily slides into a bookcase.
2) Protection
Belkin Neoprene - protects the Kindle in areas where it needs it least: scratches on the body and dents on edge if dropped. It is soft, so it offers only partial protection for the screen. Anything dropped on the Kindle when it is still face up can fracture the screen, which is actually somewhat fragile (trust me on this).
Leather Cover - the stiffer cover offers better protection for the screen surface.
3) Butterfingers
Belkin Neoprene - You can't read the Kindle when it is inside the sleeve. Once out of the cover, the Kindle is very sleek. Unfortunately, sleek is very closely related to slippery. It is simply too easy to lose your grip on a "naked" Kindle.
Leather Cover - Since it is always on, you actually grip the more tactile leather, making drops less likely. Also, if you do drop it, it still has the cover on.
Bottom line - you DO want a cover to protect your Kindle (again, trust me on this), and the leather one is simply better.
Excellent! Great job Amazon February 25, 2009 Jessica Schulte (Sioux Falls) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this cover so far it feels great in my hands and the interior is very soft. The metla amazon kindle plate looks very nice. The hinges hold the kindle in very nicely im not worried about it ever sliding out. A strap to hold the cover shut would be great but is not necessary i store my kindle in the octo kindle bag when not in use so its really not a factor for me. This cover is leaps and bounds better then the first cover and I am very glad I purchased it. The packaging the cover comes in is also very pleasnt.
