I received this cover 2 days ago and it's a perfect fit for my Kindle 2. It's well constructed, sturdy, and will hold the Kindle upright if I don't want to hold it while reading. The padding protects the Kindle when the cover is closed on it, which is very important when traveling. When I first started using it, I noticed the bottom strap used to secure the cover would get in the way, but it is flexible enough to be secured backwards when the cover is open, so problem was easily solved. This is our first Kindle and first cover--so far, so good!
Perfect Cover, Wouldn't Change a Thing July 28, 2009

It's perfect, exactly what I was looking for & I would not change a thing. The cover is a lovely shade of red, that seems durable. The inside is a soft gray plush that cradles my Kindle very well. There is a slim pocket for business cards & smallish papers I have not used but appear functional if you don't expect to put too much stuff in them. There's also a slot for a pen along the top where it folds back.
Others have commented on the design of the closure but I prefer to any other kind I can think of. No clasps &/or buckles to hook & get in the way. The tab slides into & out of it's slot easily in either the closed or open position & holds it securely either way. It also forms a nice, secure base when open & standing just be sure to tuck the tab into the slot, if you leave it loose, it can slide flat.
I love the fact that it opens up instead of out like a book, it's much less intrusive. I've not tried the other style but I would assume it would make it hard to reach the buttons on the left hand side & harder to hold, this style does not. It's easy & light to hold in both hands or one. You can either stand it up or just hold it, both work perfectly well. I like to lay in bed & read at night & I've found it's ideal to stand up on my stomach & read without having to hold it or strain my neck when using a pillow.
As one reviewer said, there is extra space on the left side (I also believe it's intended for the m edge light but I've found a standard clip on book light works fine) but I have small hands & have not had any problem with the extra space impairing my use of the left hand buttons. While it does make the Kindle a mite larger, I had no problem carrying it in my purse & felt safe doing it.
I am very happy with my purchase & would choose this one again.

I've been using this cover for Kindle 2 for about a month now, and I have no complaints. The Kindle fits snuggly in the case and I'm never fearful of it falling out, even when I use my Kindle on the treadmill/elliptical at the gym. The stand up feature is very convenient and works well, but the case will also allow the Kindle to lay flat if you want it to. I've used the stand up feature on all sorts of surfaces (desk, bed, couch) without any trouble. The synthetic leather is smooth and doesn't mark in my experience. I'm constantly throwing my Kindle in some bag with keys, pens, and other random stuff, so it was important to me to get a case that wouldn't get all scratched up.
Unless having real leather is really important to you, I would definitely say just get this synthetic version of the Platform Jacket.

This is a great cover! To give you some background, I owned an M-Edge cover for the Kindle 1, and I loved it. It held the Kindle securely, so I knew I would try M-Edge again for my Kindle 2 cover. This one does the same excellent job, and I'm very pleased. I wasn't sure whether I would like the platform style, but I've found it really useful. I'll often read in bed, and now my hand doesn't tire from holding the Kindle upright.
I do wish, though, that the red of the Kindle 2 cover was the same beautiful, rich red as the Kindle 1 cover. As another reviewer noted, this K2 cover is more of a brick red, not the color it seems to be even in the pics on this page. At first I was quite disappointed, and if I'd known, I might have gone for the tan one instead. (But maybe that one doesn't look like the tan in the pictures, either!) In any case, I've grown to like the brick red. And most important to me, I know my Kindle is well-protected.
